The Farmer Training Center (FTC) will host an open day on Saturday, March 15, inviting regional and district government leaders, farmers, youth, and women to explore its facilities and learn about agroecological farming practices. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the FTC's training facilities and living lab, which includes three fish ponds, to gain insights into the integrated system of poultry, fish, and vegetable farming that the center employs.
The event is open to the public, and a shuttle bus will provide transportation from the city office to the FTC. The FTC serves as a hub for knowledge exchange and research collaborations, with facilities accommodating up to 100 students and three classrooms for conferences and workshops. The FTC also collaborates with a network of regional farmers, and understands farmer's needs.
Visitors can observe a range of demonstrations, including livestock management, agroforestry, permaculture, rainfed systems, and soil and water management. The FTC's approach provides a cost-effective solution to challenges faced by Tanzanian farmers by training them on using natural pesticides and fertilizers.
