Lush Spring Prize ‘17

We are proud to announce that Sustainable Agriculture Tanzania (SAT) has been awarded with the Lush Spring Prize for Established Projects in the area of social and environmental regeneration.
The Lush Spring Prize is launched by Ethical Consumer and Lush Cosmetics (https://www.lush.com/) to support projects around the world that are working towards environmental and social regeneration. The prize is for organisations that work in harmony with nature to revive damaged social and natural environments and want to share its experiences and ideas with similar organisations around the world.
SAT made it to win the award in the category for Established Projects and Organisations considered to be beacons of regeneration that have worked successfully for more than 5 years to help spread knowledge and inspire more people.
SAT has been selected out of 93 applications from around the world for introducing the SAT Innovation Platform where linkages between farmers, educators, researchers and government are created in order to generate and inspire locally-relevant knowledge. Within this context, SAT has brought over 2000 small-scale farmers into the agroecological farming movement by demonstrating and practising agroecological principles in 72 farmer groups from 52 villages using participatory farmer field schools since 2011. This community builds SAT’s Innovation Platform where all gained experiences are made accessible to a national community of more than 50,000 farmers.
SAT Director Janet Maro received the award during a two-day event at Emerson College in East Sussex in May 2017. This is the right place for such an organic award ceremony, since Emerson College is surrounded by organic farms and demonstrates the regenerative practices embedded in parts of the English rural economy.

We are thankful and deeply honoured of receiving the Lush Spring Prize Award which shows that we are on the right track with our work. We also want to forward this honour to our supporters and partners who enable us to carry out our projects successfully.
